Hosted by the Egyptian Shooting Federation at the Shooting Ranges of Egypt’s International Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital, the event welcomes athletes from around the world for one of the key Rifle and Pistol competitions of the 2026 season.

The opening ceremony was attended by ISSF President Luciano Rossi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Mr Gohar Nabil, and Egyptian Shooting Federation President Mr Hazem Hosny, alongside representatives of the Egyptian Armed Forces and other distinguished guests. Both Mr Nabil and Mr Hosny addressed the gathering, welcoming the international delegations and highlighting Egypt’s commitment to hosting major sporting events.
Major General Abdel-Moaty Abdel Aziz Gomaa Allam, Chief of the Armed Forces Training Authority; Major General Staff Officer Ehab Abdel Hamid Mustafa, Director of the Infantry Department; Brigadier Mohamed Hassan Ahmed, Secretary General of the Sports agency of the Egyptian armed Forces; Brigadier Ahmed Mohamed Abd Elsalam, chief of the Armed Forces Shooting Club; Major general Assem Zaki Abd Ellatif, advisor of the Infantry Department for International Shooting; and Board Members of the International African and Egyptian Shooting Federations also participated in the ceremony.

Mr Hosny underlined the Egyptian Shooting Federation’s experience in organising international competitions and thanked the authorities and partners supporting the event.

ISSF President Luciano Rossi thanked the hosts for their efforts and welcomed the athletes and delegations to Cairo.

The ceremony also featured a parade of participating nations and a lively musical performance by a choir conducted by Maestro Mahmoud Awad. Combining Egyptian and international music, the performance engaged the audience and brought an entertaining, celebratory atmosphere to the evening.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of recognition plaques to the distinguished guests in attendance. A highlight of the closing moments was the presentation of the ISSF Medal and Diploma of Honour to Egyptian Shooting Federation President Hazem Hosny, recognising his contribution to shooting sport.
With the opening ceremony complete, attention now turns to the competition, as athletes take to the ranges in Cairo to compete for World Cup honours across Rifle and Pistol until 16 October.
