The quota places were allocated in Pistol and Rifle, marking an important first step on the road to LA28 and giving athletes and their National Paralympic Committees an early opportunity to secure representation at the Games.
In Pistol, quota places were awarded in four events. Republic of Korea and China secured places in the P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1, while Iran earned a place in the P2 Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1. China and Republic of Korea each secured a place in the P3 Open 25m Pistol SH1, with Spain earning a place in the P4 Open 50m Pistol SH1.
Rifle accounted for the majority of the first quota allocations, with places awarded across nine events.
Slovakia and Hungary secured places in R1 Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, while Serbia and India earned places in R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1.
In the R3 Open 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1, the quota places went to Republic of Korea and Slovakia, while Italy secured both the male and female places in R4 Open 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2.
Serbia and Portugal earned places in R5 Open 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2, with Poland and Germany securing places in R6 Open 50m Rifle Prone SH1.
In the 50m Rifle 3 Positions events, France and Republic of Korea secured the places in R7 Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, while Republic of Korea and Sweden earned the places in R8 Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
The first Rifle quota allocation was completed with Thailand and France securing places in R9 Open 50m Rifle Prone SH2.
Overall, the first 24 quota places are spread across 15 countries, underlining the international reach of World Shooting Para Sport as athletes begin their journey towards LA28.
With the first places now secured, the qualification pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games is officially underway, with further opportunities for athletes to earn quota places as the qualification period continues.
