The countdown to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games is well underway, with the global shooting sport community entering the final two years on the road to the world's biggest sporting stage.

For athletes across the globe, the journey to LA28 is already gathering momentum. The first Olympic quota places will be awarded later this year at the ISSF World Championships in Doha, marking the beginning of the qualification process and the next chapter in the pursuit of Olympic success.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will continue shooting sport's proud Olympic tradition, with 15 medal events across Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines, bringing together the world's finest athletes to compete for Olympic glory.

The road to LA28 has already seen important milestones achieved. The qualification system has been confirmed, giving athletes and Member Federations a clear pathway towards the Games. Next year, the international calendar will intensify even further, with Olympic quota places available at selected ISSF World Cups and Continental Championships before qualification concludes in 2028.
The ISSF continues to work closely with the International Olympic Committee, Organising Committees and Member Federations to strengthen the visibility and development of shooting sport. In recent years, the federation has introduced initiatives to modernise competition presentation, enhance broadcast production, expand digital communication and engage new audiences around the world.

The coming months promise to be particularly significant. The ISSF World Championships Doha 2026 will award the first Olympic quota places for LA28, while the 2027 season will feature additional qualification opportunities at ISSF World Cups and Continental Championships. Every competition will bring athletes one step closer to securing their place at the Olympic Games.

The next two years promise unforgettable moments—and for the world's best shooting sport athletes, the journey is only just beginning.
