The ISSF Junior World Championship Suhl 2026 officially got underway yesterday with a vibrant Opening Ceremony celebrating the diversity, friendship and future of international shooting sport.

Held in Suhl, Germany, the ceremony brought together athletes, officials and guests from across the world ahead of the start of competition, which runs from 16 to 26 June. A highlight of the event was the traditional Parade of Nations, where athletes proudly carried the flags of their countries, showcasing the global reach of the championship and the unity of the shooting sport community.
The ceremony was attended by ISSF President Luciano Rossi, representatives of the German Shooting Sport Federation, local authorities and distinguished guests. A live band added to the festive atmosphere, entertaining participants and spectators throughout the evening.

In his address, President Rossi welcomed the young athletes to one of the most important competitions on the ISSF calendar and encouraged them to embrace both the sporting and cultural opportunities that come with competing at a world championship.

"Suhl has long been a special place for the development of our sport and for the athletes who represent its future. Over the next days, you will compete against the best junior athletes in the world, but you will also build friendships, gain valuable experience and create memories that will stay with you throughout your careers. On behalf of the ISSF, I wish all participants the very best of luck and an unforgettable championship."

The ISSF Junior World Championship Suhl 2026 will welcome 808 athletes from 66 countries and 70 Member Federations, generating a total of 1,537 starts across rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines.

Over the next eleven days, the world's most promising young shooting sport athletes will compete for world championship titles and medals, while taking another important step on their journey towards senior international competition and future Olympic dreams.

With the Opening Ceremony now complete, attention turns to the ranges as competition begins in Suhl.
