The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has welcomed the findings of the ASOIF Governance Task Force’s Sixth Review of International Federation Governance, which confirm substantial progress in governance standards across the organisation.
ISSF recorded one of the largest score increases among Olympic International Federations over the past two years, achieving a total score of 182 out of 240 and moving to within just three points of the A2 tier. ISSF improved by 21 points, from 161 in 2024, which ASOIF itself notes is "significantly higher than the average of around 10" and places ISSF among only four federations that improved by more than 20 points.
The report highlights significant advances in transparency, integrity and organisational processes. ISSF received top scores in a wide range of areas, including publication of statutes and regulations, organisational structure, member federation information, governance reporting, executive and council decision-making transparency, anti-doping compliance, integrity systems and whistleblower protection.
The review also recognised the establishment of the new ISSF Integrity Unit, the introduction of a comprehensive Integrity Code and strengthened safeguarding measures as major governance milestones.
Luciano Rossi, ISSF President said:
“We warmly welcome this report, which confirms that ISSF has made record progress in governance over the last two years.”
“I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this achievement, including our staff, elected officials, member federations and independent experts. The review shows that ISSF now compares extremely favourably with many other summer Olympic sports, despite operating with relatively modest resources. This is a strong endorsement of our collective commitment to transparency, integrity and modern governance.”
Additional reforms are already underway. New election rules will be presented for approval shortly, further strengthening democratic processes and accountability. With these measures in place, the Federation is confident that continued focus and a determined approach will enable ISSF to make the jump into the next governance tier in the near future.
