Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar sets world record as Adriyan Karmakar claims world junior record in New Delhi

The 50m Rifle 3 Positions competitions at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship delivered outstanding performances, highlighted by a new World Record from Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar in the men’s final and a World Junior Record from Adriyan Karmakar in the junior event at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.

In a dramatic senior men’s final, Aishwary showed exceptional composure in the closing stages of competition. Entering the 35th and final shot trailing teammate Niraj Kumar by 0.2 points, Niraj posted a 10.3, leaving Aishwary needing a 10.6 to secure victory. The experienced rifle shooter responded with an excellent 10.7 to finish on 362.0 points, securing the gold medal and establishing a new World Record. Niraj claimed silver with 361.8, earning his first individual international medal, while Akhil Sheoran completed the podium with bronze after finishing on 343.5.

The strong level of competition was evident already in qualification, where Niraj led the field with 593-34x, followed by Aishwary (588-40x) and Akhil (588-32x). The trio also combined to win the team gold medal, with Japan and Kazakhstan taking silver and bronze respectively, reflecting the depth of performance across participating nations.

In the junior men’s final, Adriyan Karmakar delivered a dominant performance to secure gold with a score of 353.2, setting a new World Junior Record. After briefly trailing following the opening kneeling series, he moved into the lead from the sixth shot onward and maintained control throughout the remainder of the final. Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Kim took silver, while Manvendra Singh Shekhawat earned bronze. Hemant Burman finished fifth following a shoot-off.

The performances in New Delhi underline the continuing progression of standards in 50m Rifle 3 Positions at both senior and junior levels, with world-class results achieved across the championship. The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship concludes with the remaining finals in Women’s 50m Rifle Prone and Men’s 25m Centre Fire Pistol.
