ISSF President visits Kuwait for Asian Shooting Confederation General Assembly

The strong relationship between the ISSF and the Asian Shooting Confederation continues to flourish, as President Luciano Rossi attended the ASC General Assembly on the invitation of ASC President H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, in Kuwait. 

Dignitaries gathered at the country's Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, with President Rossi first joining the Executive Committee meeting. There, the ASC President thanked the ISSF President for his cooperation with countries on the Asian continent.

Major development plans have been forged with Asian nations and major events have been brought here too - with the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol leg taking place in Ningbo, China in September and the ISSF World Cup Final due for Doha, Qatar next month.

Encouraging signs of progression were shown in the Executive Committee meeting, with clear pathways heading towards to the Los Angeles 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and a commitment shown to encouraging gender equality through participation and leadership development.

In the subsequent ASC General Assembly, President Rossi was again thanked by the ASC President in front of the Member Federations for supporting sport on the continent and highlighted the great success of Asian athletes.

ASC President H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah also extended the invitation to President Rossi for the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Shotgun Grand Prix the following day. H.E. Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs; ASC Honorary President H.E. Sheikh Ali Al-Khalifa; and ASC Secretary General and President of the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations H.E. Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi were amongst the guests of honour.

In his opening speech, H.E. Sheikh Salman echoed his sentiment from the Executive Committee meeting towards Mr. Rossi, expressing his work at the helm of the ISSF has improved Asian nations. President Rossi, in his speech, congratulated the ASC for its achievements, praising the ASC President for his leadership and congratulating the athletes for their performances during his reign.

The ASC President expressed his gratitude to the ISSF President by providing him a special ASC medal in recognition of the ISSF's contribution to Olympic shooting and its support of Asia.

Following his time in Kuwait, ISSF President Luciano Rossi said: "I am always so humbled by the warm reception the ISSF receives during our meetings with the Asian Shooting Confederation and I am pleased to see that that feeling of cooperation is mutual between us.

"I would like to thank H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah and the ASC for their hospitality and their continued ambition to make shooting sport the best it can be heading towards the next Olympic Games."
