Shortly after the ISSF celebrated the new year of 2025, President Luciano Rossi started by meeting delegates during a three-day visit in Oman.
With warm welcomes from hosts at the Oman Shooting Federation, Rossi witnessed national competition over 10-metre and 50-metre disciplines in rifle and pistol during his first two days in the country.
The 10-metre competition was held in the city of Ibri, with the event acting as an initiative to promote shooting sports for young people.
"I attended an event focused on fostering enjoyment and inspiring the new generation," said Rossi.
"The warmth and engagement of the audience made the experience even more thrilling, confirming how shooting sports are steadily gaining popularity in Oman.
"The following day, I attended a traditional shooting event featuring 50-meter rifle shooting.
"The atmosphere was vibrant, with a large crowd of enthusiasts of all ages, especially young people, attentively following every detail of the competition.
"It was a pleasure to see how local traditions are integrated into the sporting context, offering a unique experience that blends the past and the present."
A total of 692 shooters participated at the Muscat Nights Festival on the second day, which focused on traditional Saktoun shooting.
On the third day, President Rossi visited a new Olympic Shooting Complex in the capital city of Muscat, which is still under construction.
This modern facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is already operational for rifle and pistol shooting, which can be accessed by all Omani athletes.
Following this, Rossi met with the Secretary General of the Oman Olympic Committee Taha bin Suleiman Al-Kishry, who thanked the ISSF for their support in developing the sport in the country and stressed the importance of establishing a sustainable partnership together.
There, the pair discussed future projects and collaboration opportunities.
"I sensed great attention and openness to new initiatives, encouraging signs for the future," added Rossi.
"These three days in Oman were much more than just a sporting experience, they were an opportunity to explore a culture that embraces shooting sports with enthusiasm, integrating tradition and modernity.
"The country is investing in infrastructure, training, and promotion, laying the groundwork for a bright future in the international shooting sports scene.
"Oman stands out as a place of great inspiration, where sport is not just competition but a bridge between cultures and generations.
"I am certain that this journey marks only the beginning of a path rich in opportunities and successes."
